About the Doctor

James W. Tickel, D.C.

Founder of NeuroCalm | Atlanta, GA

Dr. James W. Tickel, D.C. is a Doctor of Chiropractic who graduated from Life University in Atlanta, GA in 2006. He is one of seven chiropractors in his family. After nearly a decade of practice in Chicago and another in Charlottesville, VA, Dr. Tickel has returned to Atlanta to found NeuroCalm Method—a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to calming the nervous system and helping the body restore balance from the inside out.

Raised by two chiropractor parents, Dr. Tickel learned early on the importance of living in harmony with vitalistic principles. His parents taught that life—and health—is a triune of mind, body, and spirit. As chiropractors, they emphasized not only adjusting the bones to help people live healthier lives, but also “adjusting the bone-head.” Dr. Tickel believes that physical pain often serves as a doorway to deeper mental and emotional healing.

At Neuro Calm Method, Dr. Tickel utilizes a gentle, low-force upper cervical chiropractic technique designed to regulate and calm the nervous system—helping the body naturally return to a state of peace, balance, and healing. He aims to adjust not only the body, but also the mind and spirit—empowering each person to recognize that the true healer resides within. To him, healing is an inside job. One of his favorite mantras is, “I am a healer because I am healing.”

Coming from a dynamic family of healers, Dr. Tickel was raised to live a well-balanced life: eat nutrient-rich foods, move the body regularly, show love to yourself and others, and express gratitude daily. He believes health is a journey, not a destination—and that small, consistent actions each day lead us toward true and transformative healing. With every visit, Dr. Tickel seeks to inspire and guide his patients on that journey.

Outside the office, Dr. Tickel is the proud father of three children—so the word “free time” is used loosely. He loves spending time with his family, going on foodie adventure dates with his wife, backcountry camping, making homemade wine in his garage, and cooking just about anything over an open fire.
